Walter Trezek is an independent consultant in the communication logistics industry.
He literally grew up in the industry, working for the family company, a distributor of franking and inserting machines throughout Central and Eastern Europe. His career to date spans more than 30 years.
He is a well-recognized and respected speaker and moderator at a wide range of postal and communication industry events.
As a communication logistics specialist, he is regularly called up by industry journalists and asked for his take on industry developments.
After gaining his Master‘s in law from the University of Vienna in the 1990s, Walter joined Stamps.com, the Silicon Valley internet start-up and inventor of the digital stamp.
Walter was their Senior Consultant, Managing Director EMEA and a member of their successful 1999 IPO team.
In 2000 Walter was invited to become Head of Technology at Austria Post where he took over the address management and direct marketing divisions, and contributed to the restructuring of the organization.
In 2004 he left to set up his independent postal consultancy, Document Exchange Network GmbH.
As well as his work as a consultant, Walter is also actively involved in determining the standards upon which the global communication logistics industry is based, through his work with the following national and international organizations:
Postal stakeholders that are not public postal operators or regulators can add their voice to the UPU's deliberations through the Consultative Committee (CC)
The Committee represents the interests of the wider postal sector and provides a framework for effective dialogue. The committee plays a key role in developing a more global vision of the issues affecting the sector. This role enhances the UPU's value to the industry and its effectiveness.
The committee consists of non-governmental organizations representing customers, delivery-service providers, workers unions, suppliers of goods and services to the postal sector and individual and company organizations that have an interest in supporting the UPU's mission and objectives.

He consults with postal operators and administrations to ensure the sustainable development of the postal sector across its three dimensions; physical, financial and electronic, from the perspective of the online senders in retail (Ecommerce).
